Glen has more than 17 years experience providing comprehensive financial planning services to individuals and their families. Prior to founding RFPL in 2002, Glen worked as an advisor with one of Canada’s largest life insurance companies, and then spent six years as an investment and retirement planner with a major chartered bank. He specializes in Investment, Retirement, and Estate Planning. Glen has achieved several financial services industry designations. He has completed the Personal Financial Planner (PFP), through the Institute of Canadian Bankers, Certified Financial Planner (CFP), through the Financial Planners Standards Council, Financial Management Advisor (FMA), Canadian Investment Manager (CIM), through the Canadian Securities Institute, as well as the Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FSCI) designation, Canada’s premier financial services designation.
In 2002, Glen founded Rankin Financial Planning Ltd. (RFPL) in Truro. Since then, RFPL has been successfully providing professional, independent financial planning advice to individual clients and organizations.
Our investment solutions hinge on selecting the best of class managers that have a clearly defined, disciplined and repeatable process. Through proper diversification, we try “to be approximately right, rather than precisely wrong.” This approach involves combining various asset classes to achieve optimum risk and return characteristics in a portfolio. We attempt to reduce client’s exposure to specific risks such as, inflation risk, interest rate risk, reinvestment risk, market risk, political risk, industry specific risk, company specific risk, etc.
Community
Glen has been actively involved in the United Way of Colchester County since 1995, including acting as Campaign Chair in 2001 and 2008. Glen has volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters and
is currently vice chair of the Colchester Community Workshop Foundation. Glen knows the importance of building a strong community and continues to volunteer in many other capacities.
